Youth Braid & Business Academy provides hands-on beauty and business education through schools, community colleges, libraries, recreation centers, and community partners across Virginia.
What parents need to know
Ready for class day.
Drop-off & pickup
This is a drop-off program. A valid photo ID is required at drop-off and pickup.
Check-in
Families will receive the room number and final check-in instructions before class.
Lunch & snack break
Students will have a 30-minute break. Please pack a lunch or snack for your student to enjoy then.

What ages can attend?
The Braid & Beauty Bootcamp is for girls ages 10–17.
Does my daughter need to know how to braid?
No. Previous braiding experience is not required. Students will have opportunities to learn, practice, and build their skills during the bootcamp.
What if she already knows how to braid?
She’s still welcome. Students come with different experience levels, and braiding is only one part of the experience.
What should my daughter bring?
Please bring a lunch or snack to enjoy during the 30-minute program break. All supplies for the day’s class activities are included with registration.
What does the $100 registration include?
Your $100 registration includes 4 hours of hands-on instruction and activities, all class supplies, hair braiding and natural hair styling practice, nail design and press-ons, beauty and sanitation basics, beginner-friendly business skills, challenges, games and prizes, a small gift bag, and a certificate of completion.
The full bootcamp runs from 10:00 AM–2:30 PM and includes a 30-minute lunch/snack break.
Where exactly is the class?
The bootcamp takes place at Denbigh Community Center, Room 158, 15198 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23608. Registered families will receive detailed check-in instructions before class.
Can parents stay during the bootcamp?
No. This is a drop-off program. Parents and guardians will drop students off and return for pickup with a valid photo ID.
What happens after I register?
You’ll receive a confirmation after registration. Before the bootcamp, registered families will receive the room number and final class-day information.
